About
Founded on June 16, 1976 by singer Rafael Orozco Maestre and accordionist Israel Romero, Binomio de Oro de América became one of the most prominent vallenato ensembles from Colombia's Caribbean region. The group recorded numerous influential albums and helped launch the careers of several notable vocalists. After Rafael Orozco was murdered in 1992, Israel Romero continued leading the organization and the Binomio name persisted through new lineups and international tours.
