Hisato Takenaka, known professionally as Char, is a veteran Japanese guitarist, singer-songwriter and producer who made his solo debut in 1976 and has led influential projects such as Johnny, Louis & Char (later Pink Cloud). He founded the Zicca record label, has Fender and ESP signature guitars, and has performed major shows including Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall and Nippon Budokan. Char has been repeatedly recognized in Japan as one of the country's top guitarists and continues to record and tour.
