Formed by Donnie Vie and Chip Z'Nuff, the band reached a wider audience with their major-label debut (1989) and scored Billboard Hot 100 entries with the singles "New Thing" and "Fly High Michelle". They have released numerous studio albums on both major and independent labels and continue to record and tour, with Chip Z'Nuff handling lead vocals full-time since 2016.
