Chicago-born bassist Frank Russell has performed and recorded with artists including Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Freddie Hubbard, Wallace Roney and Darryl Jones. He released solo projects including Covering All Basses (2005) and Circle Without End (2011) and leads his own ensembles while hosting clinics and workshops. Russell has served as musical director for stage projects (including work that earned a 2020 Jeff Award) and remains an active figure on the Chicago jazz scene.
