Jaap van Zweden is a violinist-turned-conductor who became the youngest concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra at age 19 before moving into conducting. He led the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (2008–2018), served as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic from 2018–2024 and held long-term posts with the Hong Kong Philharmonic; in 1997 he and his wife founded the Papageno Foundation to support families of children with autism.
