About
Led by saxophonist Jeff Newell, the New-Trad Octet was formed in 1994 and focuses on arrangements that fuse early marches and hymns with modern jazz approaches. The group released the album Brownstone (Blujazz) in 2007; Newell is also an established educator and has served on the faculty of the Brooklyn Music School since 1997.
