Local Motive formed at a casual jam one night in 2012 (couldn't even tell you when), intended to play some Cake covers and feel each other out. Through a mutual love of the band Cake and the possibility of playing some live music, guitarist/songwriter Mike Vinopal, bassist Brett Weides, vocalist Daniella Rojas, trumpeter Matthew Sypherd, & drummer Jeb Rendall were all brought together in the Chicago suburb of Bartlett.
