Melvin Taylor began performing professionally as a teenager and in 1980 joined Pinetop Perkins and the Legendary Blues Band for a European tour. He recorded two early albums in France (Blues on the Run, Plays the Blues for You) and later released several records on Evidence Music including Bang That Bell and Dirty Pool. Taylor has been praised by outlets such as Rolling Stone and The New York Times for his virtuoso guitar playing and has appeared on international festival bills with major artists.
