About
Petr Popelka (born 1986) studied double bass at the Prague Conservatory and was deputy principal double bassist of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden from 2010 to 2019. He was the first conducting fellow at the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in 2019–2020 and served as chief conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra from 2020 to 2023. Since 2022 he has been chief conductor and artistic director of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and was appointed chief conductor of the Vienna Symphony effective with the 2024–2025 season.
