Formed in 2015 by Sarah Rose and Kienan Dietrich, Sarah and the Safe Word have released multiple records including Strange Doings in the Night (2017) and Good Gracious! Bad People (2020) and continued issuing new music into the 2020s. The band built a reputation for theatrical, cabaret-informed live shows, extensive DIY touring, and public advocacy for LGBTQ+ and mental-health causes.
