Formed in 1966, the Cryan' Shames released the albums Sugar and Spice (1966), A Scratch in the Sky (1967) and Synthesis (1968) and scored regional hits including their cover of "Sugar and Spice," which reached #49 on the US charts and was a Chicago radio favorite. The band underwent multiple lineup changes, disbanded in 1969 before later reuniting for performances, and were inducted into the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum Hall of Fame in 2023.
