Ak’chamel, The Giver Of Illness is a ritualist/psychedelic folk project with a prolific cassette-era output and LP releases on the Akuphone label, including The Totemist (2020) and A Mournful Kingdom of Sand (2023). The act is known for theatrical live performances in homemade costumes and has toured festivals in the U.S. and internationally, receiving press from outlets such as VICE and The Wire. Their recordings frequently use field recordings and were partly tracked in locations such as the Terlingua area of West Texas.
