True North is led by singer-songwriter Kristen Grainger with Dan Wetzel and performs both as a duo and with a full string-band lineup. Grainger won first place in the 2020 USA Songwriting Competition (folk) and was named by The Bluegrass Situation as one of the "Women Who Wrote Our 2020 Soundtrack." Their releases (Elsebound, Open Road, Broken Heart, Ghost Tattoo, Fear of Falling Stars) have earned strong folk-radio chart placements — Ghost Tattoo reached #1 and Elsebound spent 25 weeks in the Roots Music Report top 10.
