Did you know the CPL Archives and Special Collections division has church archives? Learn more about the history of these historical and current religious institutions that help contributed to the history of Chicago. This program workshop brings together and shows artifacts from multiple collections. The iconic hand-held fan reflects the broader story of community life, communication, and activism. Through these records, participants will examine how faith communities have preserved history, supported social change, and shaped civic engagement.
In celebration of the Black church's history in Chicago, participants of this learning workshops will personalize their version of the hand-held fan.
