Professor Benjamin Whitcomb and Chicago native David Caplan offer an evening of cello duos that are sure to excite and engage through a vivid exploration of the instrument’s conversational possibilities. Spanning both familiar and lesser-heard repertoire, this adventurous program showcases the expressive range, technical agility, and intimate dialogue possible between two cellists in close musical exchange. Highlights include the virtuosic Popper Suite for Two Cellos, music of American composer Halsey Stevens, a rousing arrangement of The Barber of Seville, and sublime masterpieces by Mexican composers Jose Elizondo and Samuel Maynez Vidal.
