Red Line: Chicago Horror Stories

From H.H. Holmes, America’s first serial killer, to the Jane Byrne Interchange at rush hour, Chicago is full of terrifying characters and horrifying stories. Join publisher Mike Phillips and contributors Aleco Julius, C.J. Subko and Christopher Hawkins for a lively discussion of Red Line, the first-ever collection of Chicago horror stories written exclusively by Chicago authors. Michael W. Phillips Jr. (he/him) is a writer, editor, filmmaker, film curator, bookseller, and publisher formerly based on the south side of Chicago. He's the editor in chief and publisher of Agita Publishing. He's the editor of Red Line: Chicago Horror Stories, among other anthologies. His work has appeared in Grievous Angel and Disturbed Digest and is forthcoming from the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. He is the co-author of the nonfiction book Gold: Nature and Culture (with Rebecca Zorach, Reaktion Books, 2016). Aleco Julius is the Chicago-based author of Weird Tales of the Great Lakes and Endless Depths: Cosmic Themes, Weird Lore, & Hidden Knowledge. His fiction has recently appeared in the anthologies Red Line, Dolls in the Attic, Poisoned Soup and more. His stories have been featured in Dark Matter Magazine and Cold Signal Magazine. Look for his essays in Fiddler’s Green, Hellebore, and Myth & Lore. Aleco lives for the soothing, subharmonic murmur of black tentacular voids. C.J. Subko is a dreamer, a novelist, and a lifelong Chicagoan. She has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, which makes her highly qualified to think too much.
