Crystal Thomas is a Louisiana-born blues and Southern soul singer, trombonist, and songwriter, and one of the most exciting new voices on today’s soul-blues circuit. Raised between Shreveport and Mansfield on Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, and Johnnie Taylor, she started singing in church as a teenager and taught herself trombone, later performing as Johnnie Taylor’s backing vocalist and trombonist, shaping the raw, church-trained vocals and gritty horn sound that power her high-energy shows. Her acclaimed releases, including Lyrical Gumbo: The Essence of Blues, Drank of My Love, Good Good Lovin’, and Now Dig This, along with collaborations with legends like Lucky Peterson, Chuck Rainey, and the Texas Moeller Brothers, showcase a deep Louisiana blues feel with a modern Southern soul groove that connects instantly with festival and club audiences.
