Malt Adult Animation Nite

**Malt Adult** is an independent screening and publication series highlighting underground and contemporary artists working within the medium of animation. Starting in 2016 in Columbus Ohio, Malt has since screened over 400 animated short films in art galleries, auditoriums, and bars, with the intent of bringing both festival films and deep internet finds together in an accessible format. The return of the showcase spotlights local animation artist films like **Take Me Drunk I’m Home (2025) by Nolan Downs** and **Criatura (2025) by Nitya Ramlogan**. The first is an unpacking of the director’s complicated relationship with drinking culture and the latter a coming of age story utilizing cut paper animation and featuring a beached walrus-as-father-figure. Other highlights include Andrew Onorato’s hilarious and bad-tempered Smoke Dog (2025) from Australia and the elaborate debut animation from Czech Director Julie Černá entitled Stone of Destiny (2025), based on her series of award-winning comics under the same name. Free printed programs/zines with interviews, film descriptions, and behind-the-scenes art from the films will be available on a first come, first served basis. Local, looping animation submissions for the projector are now open and will run until the Friday before the show.
