Formed in Seattle in 2000, Pretty Girls Make Graves emerged from the city’s post-hardcore and indie-punk scene with a sound that balanced jagged guitars, driving rhythms, and the powerful vocals of Andrea Zollo. Drawing from punk, post-hardcore, and indie rock, the band developed a style that felt both aggressive and melodic, with lyrics often focused on relationships, identity, and the frustrations of everyday life.
Pretty Girls Make Graves released a string of influential records in the early 2000s, including The New Romance and Elan Vital, building a reputation for tightly wound songwriting and intense live performances. The band became part of a wave of early-2000s indie and post-hardcore acts that blurred the boundaries between underground punk and more melodic alternative rock.
After breaking up in 2007, Pretty Girls Make Graves reunited for select performances years later, bringing their distinctive blend of angular guitars, punk energy, and melodic songwriting back to the stage.
