About
THE OBSESSED
The Obsessed is a rock band. A FUKKING HARD rock band. Since their formation
in 1978, they have become known around the world for their influential
contribution to the origins and continued legacy of the doom metal and
underground hard rock genres. The distinctive vocals and guitar wizardry of
founder and driving force Scott “Wino” Weinrich has left a mark on the world of
heavy music that continues to inspire.
The Obsessed gained momentum in the Baltimore/DC area of the USA in the early
to mid 1980’s during the height of the hardcore punk movement. Often cited as
the band that bridged heavy metal and punk together, the band gained the
respect of punk heavy weight contemporaries Black Flag, The Bad Brains, and
Minor Threat, to name a few. The attitude and spirit of The Obsessed has led
many to regard them as “America’s Motorhead”.
Wino went on to join the doom metal giants Saint Vitus as lead singer on seminal
albums including 1986’s ‘Born Too Late’‘. In 1990, The Obsessed came back with
their eponymous debut album, “The Obsessed”. This album was quickly followed
by 1991’s “Lunar Womb” and 1994’s “The Church within.
The band then signed with Relapse Records and recorded 2017’s “Sacred”, an
album showing The Obsessed were back with pure vengeance. Sacred brought
the band to venues and festival stages around the world.
In 2022 the band became a four piece with the addition of Chris Angleberger on
bass and Jason Taylor on guitar. The band has been touring heavily since and
have been seen on USA and European festival stages such as HellFest, Freak
Valley Festival, Snowblind Festival and multiple DesertFests.
The band’s 2024 album, Gilded Sorrow, on Ripple Music, marked a new chapter
in their legacy. The album captures the essence of the band’s classic sound while
adding a fresh new atmosphere with a dual guitar attack.
In 2025, Bob Pantella (The Atomic Bitchwax, Monster Magnet, Raging Slab) joined
The Obsessed on drums. To quote Wino, “This is the strongest The Obsessed
has ever been. We are geared up and ready to play. We will be hitting your city
soon!”
The Obsessed are here to stay.
IF IT AIN’T HEAVY IT AIN’T SHIT !!!
HIPPIE DEATH CULT
Hippie Death Cult have been described as “a journey through shameless and triumphant
artistic expression, exploration and discovery” in the realms of psychedelia and riff-heavy rock n’ roll. The band hails from Portland, Oregon and during their formative years they have transitioned from a 4 piece to a more consonant power trio consisting of guitarist Eddie Brnabic, vocalist/bassist Laura Phillips and drummer Harry Silvers.
In 2019 they signed to Cursed Tongue Records for the release of “111” then in 2021 signed to Heavy Psych Sounds Records to release “Circle of Days” and the Doom Sessions Vol.5 split. Both full-length albums received international critical acclaim while debuting at #1 on the Doom Charts. The band is also known for their high energy and passionate stage performances, having performed to audiences across America, Canada and Europe. They are currently in production for their 3rd studio album and are set to announce extensive tours to follow.
ASTRAL HAND
Astral Hand’s fuzzy, spaced-out debut album, Lords Of Data, was finally released in March of 2023 (Romanus Records) after a three-year delay due to the Covid pandemic. It was received well across the US, Europe, and Australia and now, with a second pressing acquired, Astral Hand is travelling to make contact with audiences around the Midwest and more. Lately, they have been working, once again, with Shane Hochstetler of Howl Street Recordings to perfect and finish their second transmission.
BLACK ROAD
Black Road is a four-piece sultry stoner/doom band from Chicago, IL. Founding members Tim M. and Suzi Uzi write the riffs and lyrics, with new member Trey Wedgeworth (bass) and newest member Danny Garcia (drums) creating a heavy and harmonious rhythm as the backbone. Formed in the summer of 2015, Black Road has had lineup changes that have pushed the band to become stronger and more focused. Just before acquiring then-new members Robert and Casey in fall of 2016, Black Road signed with DHU Records (Netherlands) for a vinyl and cassette deal. In early 2017, they signed with BloodRock Records (Italy) for the CD release. After almost one full year of gaining their new bassist and drummer, Black Road was finally ready to reveal their self-titled debut Black Road – EP (10/6/2017). One year later, a digital single with a runtime of over ten minutes was released: Witch of the Future. The single album release with two tracks is titled “Blood On The Blade” (4/5/2019), and the 7” vinyl sold out in 20 minutes in the US and overseas at DHU Records. “Witch of the Future”, the debut full-length attempt, was released on Halloween 2019 with the same two killer labels. It features a completely new recording of the song “Witch of the Future”, and a brand new mix for “Blood on the Blade”. A repress on “Witch of the Future” was released in September 2020, with a limited edition translucent red vinyl via DHU Records and The Company. This second pressing (sold out) featured new artwork.
