Altgeld Branch of the Chicago Public Library serves the Altgeld Gardens public housing community on Chicago’s Far South Side, with collections, programs, study rooms, and a YOUmedia teen recording studio. The current branch at 955 E. 131st Street replaced an older, undersized facility and shares its building with a childcare center, functioning as a vital neighborhood hub.

On-site surface parking: 18 spaces (including two accessible) on the north side with additional lot east of the building; street parking available in front of the library.

CTA Bus 34 (South Michigan) serves Altgeld Gardens with stops along 130th–131st (e.g., 130th & Indiana, 130th & Daniel Dr.) and connects to the Red Line at 95th/Dan Ryan.
