Austin Branch of the Chicago Public Library is a neighborhood library serving the West Side’s Austin community with collections, programs, a reservable meeting room, and a YOUmedia teen space. The branch opened in 1929, was designed by architect Alfred S. Alschuler, and was renovated from 1979 to 1981. Set on Race Avenue near Central Avenue, it anchors local community activity in the Austin district.
