The Hal Tyrrell Trailside Museum of Natural History is a Forest Preserves of Cook County nature center in River Forest’s Thatcher Woods featuring live native animal displays, wildflower gardens, and exhibits on local habitats. Housed in a mid?1870s Victorian mansion and established as a public nature education facility in 1931, it offers family-friendly programs with access to miles of trails along the Des Plaines River.
