Carter G. Woodson Regional Library is a Chicago Public Library regional hub on the South Side, opened December 19, 1975, and home to the Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection of Afro?American History and Literature, the largest collection of its kind in the Midwest. An 11,000?square?foot wing opened in 1999 to expand the Harsh Collection, and the branch serves Washington Heights with community programs and a YOUmedia teen recording studio.
